Earned Hours (EHRS) are the number of credits used to determine your registration appointment day and time. Use this chart to determine your Registration Appointment
time based upon your earned hours. Banner Self-Service through 49er Express has a "Check Registration Status" link under the heading "Registration" in Student Services.
Appointments have been assigned on weekdays from April 11 to April 15 with times starting at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

with an advisor well in advance of the registration date.

Academic Advising
All degree-seeking students are encouraged to consult with an academic advisor in the selection of classes.
Students in certain degree programs may be required to consult with an advisor before they will be allowed to register. This status can be found under Registration Status in Self-Service.
- Students who have selected a degree program should consult with an advisor in the department responsible for that program.
- Undeclared undergraduate students should seek academic advising from the University Advising Center located at 2038 Colvard, (687-7717).
Students should arrange to see an advisor well before the time they will register. Academic departments ensure that advising services are
available by appointment, but cannot be expected to provide advising on an instantaneous, "walk-in" basis.

Student Responsibilities
Students are responsible for the management of their course registrations.
Through the registration process, students accept academic and financial responsibility for the classes in which they enroll. Students' responsibilities
include:
- Following policies and procedures as outlined in the UNC Charlotte Undergraduate or Graduate Catalog and other documents relevant to
their individual situation.
- Selecting classes appropriate for their academic goals, preparation, drop and add transactions and verifying that these have been
correctly recorded.
- Payment of tuition and fees.

Registration Holds
Students may be blocked from registration by holds that may be placed for various reasons - including:
- College or departmental advising requirements
- Invalid admissions status
- Outstanding financial obligations
- Non returned equipment or library materials
- Suspension and disciplinary
- Non-compliance with NC Immunization Law
UNC Charlotte makes every effort to notify students of the presence of holds. Any holds that a student currently has may be viewed under Registration Status on 49er Express.

Terminating Course Enrollment
Students are academically and financially responsible for the classes in
which they enroll. They are released from this obligation only by the formal
termination of their enrollment as described below.
Students who drop all classes for which they are enrolled prior to the first
day of classes are credited with a 100% refund of tuition and there will be no
record of the semester on the student's permanent record.
Withdrawal
Students may withdraw from the University (drop all classes) according to the
calendar found in this document. Withdrawal by certain dates results in
various refund amounts and there is a final date after which there are no
withdrawals permitted. This must be done in person - 141 King Building. See the Academic Calendar for last day to withdraw a course and retain others.
The withdrawal date is the day the form or request is received by the Office of the Registrar.

Graduate Level Students
Policy on Continuous Registration:
Students in graduate degree programs are required to maintain continuous registration (fall and spring semesters) for thesis, dissertation, project, or directed study until
work is completed. Students are not required to enroll in any summer term unless they are using campus facilities or they are completing degree requirements in that term. The
continuous registration requirement begins with the semester in which the student first registers for his/her thesis, dissertation, project, or directed study. Students who
exceed the required number of hours without completing their work should register for "7999" (masters student graduate residency) or "9999" (doctoral student graduate residency)
until the thesis, dissertation, project, or directed study is completed. These hours will not be graded and will not count towards the degree.
Students who must remain continuously enrolled but are not using University resources should apply for a leave of absence. Students choosing this option must file a "Special
Request" with the Graduate School for a leave of absence that states they will not use University resources during the leave period. If the leave of absence extends beyond one
calendar year, the student’s matriculation is closed and the student must re-apply for active status in the graduate program.
International students on F-1 visa/status must remain continuously enrolled until the thesis, dissertation, project or directed study is completed. Those international
students who wish to apply for a leave of absence are advised to consult with the International Student/Scholar Office prior to filing the Special Request for leave of absence.
Note: Students must be enrolled during the term (semester or summer) in which they graduate from the University.

New Student Eligibility
Continuing students may conduct registration transactions during scheduled
registration hours at any point after their eligibility begins on March 31, 2008.
- New Degree Graduates and PhD students register with continuing graduates beginning in March 31.
- New Freshmen and Transfers students for Fall register through the SOAR program (704/687-2375). (Beginning in June).
- Summer Registration for Visiting and Non-Degree undergraduate students opens April 17, 2008 and Fall Registration on August 21, 2008.

Closed Sections
Each course/section has a specified enrollment limit. When enrollment in a
course section reaches the limit, it is considered "closed" and no further
enrollments will be processed. Students wishing to enroll in a specific
course/section which has closed may contact the academic department sponsoring
the course to request that the department enter an electronic permit in a closed
or restricted section. The student must then complete the enrollment process by
using the Web System and enrolling in the class.
